Faust is one of the earliest and most raw Krautrock representatives , Current German pilot rock emerged in the late 60's.

In the 60 wave occurs Anglo / American pop music, rock, and then the boom progressive (Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd) who literally invaded the rest of the countries of Europe and large hegemonized as musical taste, making the groups German, French, Italian, etc. they wanted to be 'successful' had to incorporate this way of making music (sometimes even singing in English). It is in this context that many groups seeking a break with this kind of official aesthetic of 'music industry', and currents of each country. So is emerging in France as Zeuhl (Magma as its main exponent), or in Germany Krautrock (Kraftwerk, Popol Vuh), and who we are dealing with: Faust.

Formed in 1971, recorded 4 albums, of which the same name that is presented here first, and it outlines what will be the signature style of this band. Unlike other groups, Faust takes his music to extremes at times insane experimentation, creating structures seemingly disjointed, chaotic, using synthesizers to create ambient passages, and samples with which they approach musique concrète composers and Schaeffer , Varèse and Pierre Henry. Add to this the dissonant riffs and distorted guitar and sax, the quiet acoustic passages and sometimes mysterious, surreal sense of humor and absurdity (to Frank Zappa and Henry Cow). Musicians

I welcome to this blog's music with such a great album that costs out of the CD player, MP3 or iPod, as appropriate. This is Perdition City (music to a film inside) published in 2000 by the Norwegian band Ulver. And to fill the space before the link will take you to what matters (the album download) let us start with the basics.

Ulver's story begins in the dark and raucous black metal genre, and not just any band, but they keep a place of prestige and great influence in this style. To the uninitiated in this underworld, one can say that black is characterized by the letters alluding topics as dark powers, the savage force of primordial nature and especially the issue satanic, anti-Christian, Wiccan, ien of beliefs and customs pagan countries of northern Europe, and so on. In the audible, the classic lineup are two guitars, bass and drums, lightning fast tempos predominantly based on double bass drums. I do not think it is necessary to explain that it is metal, would only add the fast tempos and the production deliberately sloppy record publishing.

In any case, the public record that this time there is nothing black, or at least not the obvious, because another thing that characterizes this genre is something that transcends party and that cuts across cultures of the Netherlands and to a large extent could be attributed to climate, especially the way the sun hits q their heads and covered their forests and rivers. I mean a kind of melancholy and nostalgia that permeates all his art and even way of seeing things. Some introversion that my hand was many bands and albums in particular, but never as pure as the amazing record "Kveldsanger" (95) , the band that motivates this article. This is an engraved plaque in the heart of the forest with all the mystique and solemnity characteristic of acoustic instruments like guitars, cellos, flutes and especially the impressive and exciting clean male voice, without any trace of the characteristics of black voices, or the effects that one might imagine for one of those singers.
This was the first album I heard of Ulver, fully recommend it especially for those autumn evenings when the sound of the wind that blows through the window invites us to silence, contemplation and dreaming.
After this album, had a return to black, but I went long and I went directly to investigate the sounds that Ulver was experiencing.
Well, it turns out that the wolves continued to evolve and finding their sound, and surprisingly reached after passing through the black and the "folk", the use of digital instruments such as synthesizers, samplers and what not, all would use any electronic band, triphop and industrial. This
this time are three disks, Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, and the long-term Metamorphosis Perdition City.
Now, I have said that their instruments and experiments are similar in style to electronic and industrial, but not this be a lie, I must say that at least it is a poor description for the results obtained by Ulver. The difficulty in describing this period is that, although its history and makes it clear that this is not a traditional ensemble, the words fall short unless we take the license to speak on non-musical terms to characterize them. If a good friend asked me and ask me to say that they are describing is unique, that achieve a balanced mix between the sounds "modern" electronics but shady screened with metal, undoubtedly generated atmospheres can relate to the dream and the dream, besides being perfect to accompany the other activities that are effected in bed and that their compositions are so smart and careful, the sound of Ulver has nothing to envy to silence.
But do not anticipate, because after these records, the wolves have continued their journey, so just leave it up to here, at least for today so that those who read this and give you click the link below, use the time to listen and digest with quiet textures and rhythms of this great band. So fewer letters and more sounds: Ulver - Perdition City

This album is chilly, your departure date was May 17 this year. The band from Sweden has been working since early in the nineties with Progressive Metal. This time we present this record as the fruit of his next project launched in several parts (due out later next year), it shows a musical maturity but keeping the same aesthetic latency characterized by the band with powerful guitars and vocals adding this time a major influence on the rock of the 70, going into more musical passages and obscure bluesmen, interesting songs emphasized in the backing vocals and powerful melodies and dynamic way to Led Zeppelin. An excellent disc that lets forward to the second part (to expect only). Musicians

Daniel - vocals, guitar, bass, banjo, samplers
Fredrik Hermansson - keyboards, samplers
Johan Hallgren - guitar, vocals
Léo Margarit - drums, vocals

(2009) is the sixth album from this band in early 2000 achieved greater fame for belonging to scene of post hardcore bands, but since the 4th disc began to focus on a more sound experimentation and composition which led to very good work otherwise. His penultimate album was released in parts separately, these were divided representing 4 elements: earth, water, wind, fire. After that job, the band treats us to this work that is more centered on what they did before together all the experience they have done with their latest works. Perhaps this album is not as "risky" as above but stands out in a very important thing, the music they have is much more mature and far from wanting to play more (or less) strong, fast and loud. Completely renewed as a big band of today, the album has generated enough good reviews and reception. Clearly a disc that has not managed to forget.

Dustin Kensrue - guitar, vocals
Teppei Teranishi - Guitar, keyboard, vocals
Eddie Breckenridge - Bass, backing vocals

Since we are on pioneers, I bring you an album of one of the classics of the progressive world (and one of my favorites): King Crimson. And in one of the favorites of many courses, that of 1972-74, with which they took as fudamentales discs Lark's Tongues in Aspic or Network. At this time KC is different from what they were doing bands like ELP, Genesis or Yes, and his own earlier style, and build a style much more acid, more 'rock' if you will, a much more hard and difficult.

iMPRoVaTTaKc Vol.1 was published in 2002 by DGM, with material from the year 74, and contains 3 live improvisations of the group. King Crimson has been characterized throughout his career for being a great live band, either playing their subjects of study or jamming. A tremendous versatility of these musicians, and the many sounds they achieve. They range from a calm and almost lyrical violin passage, to insane electrical pathways, through hypnotic sections or textures that could be called pointillism. Musicians

* David Cross: violin, viola, mellotron
* Robert Fripp: guitar, mellotron
* John Wetton: bass
* Jamie Muir: percussion & Allsort [?]
* Bill Bruford: drums

  3. Aphrodite's Child is without doubt one of the great British progressive rock bands in the history of music and this album proves it. In 1972 the band of Greeks among those who formed part Vangelis (then best known for his solo career) records this piece of disk with the idea of \u200b\u200bcreating music for different extracts of Revelation as Biblical interpretation of the Book of Revelations, not that it is a clear satanic band, but they took this work conscientiously and successfully achieved a sound that would propel many later bands of the early 70's. The record came by way of separate double album in 4 parts. Without doubt a classic of classics as it is today the Dark Side of the Moon. Musicians

    Demis Roussos - Bass, guitars, voices and choirs
    Lucas Sideras - drums, voice and choir

This album is the soundtrack of a video game called Alone in the Dark (series known by many) in its fifth edition (2008), I found interesting was put mainly because of the things that caught my attention as I was playing, the composition is by a Frenchman named Olivier Deriviere composer who interestingly was also responsible for the soundtrack of Obscure and Obscure II, both games of the horror genre. This paper
something that attracts attention is the use of more unusual vocal harmonies and non-use of a real orchestra, I mean, all the instruments you hear are played electronically, and together with the inclusion of the vocal group The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices achieve together a incredible atmosphere. A highly recommendable disc may sound sappy have a video game soundtrack;)
